Intel CPU Coreguard

Prevents crashes on intel CPUs when running thread heavy mods like SOL with Mirage. Locks down processes to separate threads. See description for more details.

Mirage Intel Crash Fix (CoreGuard)

If you're running Mirage and KSPTextureLoader on a modern Intel hybrid CPU (like an i9-13900K or 14900K), you've probably dealt with annoying random freezes, hangs when loading out to the launchpad, or sudden crashes to desktop (mono-2.0-bdwgc.dll access violations).

Even if you turn off E-cores using a .bat file or tweak your Mirage configs, Windows still tends to dump multiple heavy texture-decompression threads onto the exact same physical P-core—or worse, pile them right on top of Core 0 while Unity and BurstPQS are trying to render planetary terrain. KSP's older Mono runtime doesn't love that core traffic jam, and when threads collide, the whole game goes down.

I built this plugin to act as a smart traffic cop for your CPU cores so Mirage and KSP stop stepping on each other.

What It Actually Does

Automatic E-Core Lockout: As soon as KSP hits the Main Menu, the mod tells Windows to keep the game strictly confined to your high-performance P-Cores (Cores 0–15). No more custom .bat shortcuts or manual Task Manager affinity tweaking needed.

Protects Unity's Main Thread & Terrain Gen: It walls off Physical P-Cores 0 and 1 specifically for Unity's main game loop, DirectX rendering, and BurstPQS. This stops VAB-to-launchpad transitions from choking when building planetary quads.

Isolates Mirage Background Workers: Using Harmony, the mod intercepts worker threads spawned by Mirage and KSPTextureLoader and deals each one out to its own dedicated physical P-Core (Cores 2 through 7, bypassing Hyper-Threading siblings). Your decompression threads never fight over the same cache again.

Pre-Flight Buffer Validation & Crash Shield: Before data is handed off, a validation gate inspects incoming memory buffers for corruption or zeroed-out states. If a background worker hits a hiccup while streaming tiles, a Harmony Finalizer catches it quietly in the background instead of crashing your game.

Requirements & Install

Requires: Harmony (000_Harmony folder in your GameData)

To Install: Drop Mirage Intel Crash Fix.dll into Kerbal Space Program/GameData/ZZZ_MirageCoreGuard/.

Note: If you previously used HyperThreadingOptimizer.dll, make sure to remove it so it doesn't fight with this mod over core affinities.
