Kerbal Powerplants adds a variety of stockalike jet engines to fill missing niches in the vanilla game

Jet Engines: A range of atmospheric engines, each added to fill in a gap in the vanilla parts list or to provide a new unique mechanic.
Custom Damage: Striking a fanblade on the ground or open an airbrake at high speed will cause a part to break.
VTOL Actuation: VTOL engines turn and pivot to keep craft level and steady.
